SYNOPSIS
Dusty rabbit is a loveable rogue and all children won’t fail to fall in love with him. He likes to be out and about and investigating everything. His favourite place is the shed; there are so many places to hide and so many things happening under the shelves and cupboards.
Spiders roam around and make their webs, but he has to be careful around them as they are not amused if he walks into their web and destroys it (which he frequently does, which is why he is called Dusty).
He can’t understand why mum always gets so cross with him, especially when he’s digging her plants up, or eating them. He’s only checking she’s put the roots in far enough and all plants need trimming sometimes. He can’t help it if he gets a little carried away sometimes.
Like all children, Dusty does not like going to bed. So night time becomes a game of wits as he tries to either hide under the cupboards in the shed, or behind the compost bins, as these are a few of the places that mum and six year old Sam have difficulty getting him out of.
In the first book Dusty is anxious to be up and about and tries to attract mum’s attention by thumping and clanging his bowl. When she finally gives in, as the noise is driving her mad and she lets him out, Dusty quickly runs to the shed to investigate.
Here he inadvertently breaks Susie spider’s web. She is very angry about this and whilst he is dozing in the sun, she climbs on his back and runs all over his body tickling him. He finally gets rid of Susie, but is then in trouble again when he tries to run off with one of the biscuits mum has put on a stool along with the pot of tea. It isn’t really his fault that the tea pot gets smashed, it’s mum’s for making him jump by shouting at him.
He gets back into mum’s good books when Matty mouse tries to steal his biscuit and he chases him out of the shed. Mum is pleased the mouse has gone from the shed. Bedtime comes too quickly, but it’s no good hiding behind the compost bin because that nasty scratchy broom soon pushes him out. Oh well there’s always tomorrow!
